Though deep, inky and brooding in the glass, this is surprisingly refreshing on the nose, with reviving scents of evergreen, licorice and myrrh. There is substantial vigor here, between the feisty, textured attack that brusquely rushes into the palate to the solidly vivacious, almost nervous refreshment that hits the lingering finish. This is all about unabashed texture and zip. Dashing and flamboyant, the layers of licorice, tar, charcoal and black currant should ease into several stages of delicious enjoyment. Drink now–2022.
