Tenuta Rocca 2009 

Nebbiolo (Barolo)

The nose is forward and robust but not obviously Nebbiolo. The aromas show a pleasant Sherry-like note alongside savory accents of charcoal, aged meat and smoke. The fruits are still vibrant: ripe plums and figs. This wine has seen plenty of new oak as there are forward notes of vanilla, chocolate and coffee that said, it is not unpleasant as it has the fruit to back it. Showing varietal typicity in structure, the tannins are drying but pleasantly so, and the acidity is refreshing. Drink now–2020.
