Monasterio de Los Olivos  2013 Selección Privada
Red Blend (Ribera del Duero)
Impenetrable in its midnight black appearance, this wine has reserved fruit on the nose, with a light touch of varnish. The palate is überripe in prune, black raisin and roasted fig flavors, all complemented by notes of vanilla extract and ganache. Medium-plus in body, it has plenty of extraction accompanied by light glycerol, making the palate feel a touch heavy given the wine’s relaxed acidity and rounded tannins. Not super fresh there’s a note of polished, old wooden furniture, it’s holding on fine for now, and is best enjoyed by 2018.
