This wine’s core is as dark as a black hole, but its tiny rim is a bright fuschia. The attack is loaded with ripe fruit, and youthful berry-patch flavors are packed into the palate. Hints of sweet spices nicely complement the head-turningly ripe—but hardly overripe—character. The finish lingers, with a nuance of smoldering incense. The balance is spot-on between the wine’s medium-plus body, fruit opulence, integrated acidity and polished yet slightly firm tannins. Drink through 2020.
