An inky black color at the core, ripples of rust run through this wine to its small, crimson edge. The nose is forward and shows extremely ripe fruit flavors of Mission figs, prunes and molasses. It also evidences tertiary notes of fallen leaves and worn leather. The fruit on the palate is moderately fresh, aided by solid acidic lift and sculpted tannins. Drinking well now, the tertiary character suggests this wine is in its prime. Its limited, moderate finish suggests the full body doesn’t quite have the stuffing to evolve further to benefit. Enjoy through 2016.
