Pitch black, with streaks of crimson, both the appearance and the bouquet of this wine show it’s evolved. It smells of creosote, date, molasses, toasted pecan and hung game. The palate shows only modest blackberry and black plum freshness, and it is clear the fruit is becoming tired. The structure is well integrated, with lightly drying tannins and medium acidity. Perhaps just past its peak, this wine needs to be drunk up.
