Inky black, this wine has rusty inflections from the core to the rim. The nose smells of potpourri as well as barbecue spice. This exotic combination follows through to the palate, where extremely ripe blackberry and blackcurrant fruit join it. There’s a hint of dry-aged steak on the finish, too. Though pleasant, it is rather meager in breadth of flavor and finish. This is at peak and may hold on for a year or so, but it likely won’t evolve further to benefit with its limited flavors. Enjoy now through 2017.
