Black penetrates this wine’s core color but a bright cherry rim forms a halo around the edge of the glass. The nose is resolutely Old World—mineral and restrained. Sulking black fruit aromas become more evident on the palate along with pencil ss, mocha and black pepper. The weighty midpalate softens with the creamy acidity and short but managed tannins. Will evolve nicely drink now to 2015.
