This wine has a prune-colored core with a tiny yet bright cherry rim. Its nose smells of fertilizer, soot and pomegranate seeds. The attack is almost abruptly tart, with searing acidity. The medium-bodied palate offers grainy tannins and lovely freshness, but some sharp structural edges, too, with flavors of lingonberry syrup, sugared strawberries and fried thyme. A bit angular now, perhaps another six months would allow this wine to settle into its skin better. However, don’t wait too long as the finish is quite brief enjoy by 2018.
