This wine is scarlet red at the core, with black streaking and a gleaming cranberry-colored rim. Smelling of cola, damp tree bark and black cherry jam, it’s moderately aromatic. The attack shows lively fruit, hovering on the fence between youth and development. The crackling acidity and corralled tannins give the lightly creamy palate definition and sippability. The medium finish shows notes of tobacco leaf and dried earth, adding further layers of complexity. This would show well at a wine bar or in a steakhouse by the glass. Drink now through 2019.
