Dark at the core, with a bright crimson rim, this wine is showing more tertiary than primary character, due in part to its obvious oxidative tones. The nose brims with tobacco leaf, Chinese tea and dried mulberries. Medium bodied, with a palate-caressing entry, it is easygoing and accessible. The palate brings along flavors of roses and red cherries. Sweet, soft tannins defer to medium-plus acidity to give this sipper nice balance. At a casual restaurant, this would surely be a solid seller by the glass. Drink now–2018.
