Midnight black at the core, this inky wine has a tiny but bright maroon rim. It smells of boysenberries, shriveling black plums and black currants. The palate broadens the wine’s dimensions with tar, game and charred fireplace logs. Full bodied and expansive, this boisterously flavorful and lightly chunky red has mouthwatering acidity and moderately drying tannins. The finish is generously long and nicely balanced. It’s easy to imagine this as an offering by the glass at a high-end steakhouse. Drink now–2021.
