Solidly opaque through to the small, scarlet meniscus. Earthy nose lends aromas of asphalt and hot charcoal grill. Black fruit notes lurk beneath. Moderate glycerol and moderate acidity work to soothe the palate from the powerful tannic structure. Here, blackberry and black fig fruits join with a dusting of cardamom and pepper. Finishes medium. Worth waiting 1–2 years in hopes the tannins may calm down. Then drink through 2015.
