This fresh and chirpy wine is packed generously with crunchy blackberries and black plum peels. The feisty attack tastes like a zingy mouthful of early summer berries. Highly structured, with racy acidity and slightly stringy tannins, the mouthfeel seems a dichotomy to its moderate alcohol. There’s no evident sign of new oak here, and all the elements are nicely aligned. This big red is a terrific choice for summer sipping when you’re looking for a heftier, but not too hefty, red. Drink now–2020.
