This wine offers seductive aromas of cigar box and potpourri. The smashed red cherries, sweet-tart red plums and grated cinnamon sticks do a lovely job of lingering into the medium finish. The fruit is just starting to dry out, showing a hint of toasted marshmallows and well-browned piecrust. It’s grippingly dry from start to finish, with moisture-wicking tannins that would be best accompanied by succulent, roasted meats. Nicely aged, this should hold well for another few years and might even evolve further to benefit. Drink now–2021.
