A ripe Marasca cherry aroma leaps out of the glass. On the palate, tart rhubarb is nicely balanced by succulent sloe jam, creating an unusual duo. Dry earth, tea leaves and caramel appear with time in the glass. The mouth-watering acidity works hard to clean up the clingy, voluptuous midpalate. Firm, broad tannins appear on the generous finish, giving the wine vigor and freshness. There is enough stuffing here that this wine should hold well for the next few years. Drink now–2021.
