This is striking on the nose in aromas of smoke, spicy and black fruit. The cassis-driven palate is layered with accents of forest floor and pencil ss, as well as a caramel tone. The chewy, full-bodied palate is nicely corralled by lifting acidity and chiseled tannins. There’s a developed note of animal hide on the lingering finish. Big boned and husky, this is for rich food or winter months. Drink now–2022.
