A bold, forward nose stuffed with drying mulberries and Christmas potpourri pops out of the glass. The full-bodied palate tastes rather mature. This, its vaguely mahogany hue and its smooth tannins suggest this was aged at length in barrel. While the alcohol is pronounced enough to be felt on the back palate, the overall wine shows correct balance given its ample fruit concentration. A kick of acidity provides freshness on the palate along with the sculpted and lightly dry tannins. Though this is pleasant, it is worth looking at a younger vintage. Drink now–2024.
