Unforthcoming on the nose, this wine does have a youthful aura. Boldly spicy with a penetrating, graphite-driven edge on the attack, the muscled palate is concentrated and coiled up. Blackberries and black currants slide onto the palate with baking spice and marzipan. Grippy, chewy tannins and lifted acidity give this four-square wine structure. Hopefully, the wine calms down in the next six to nine months, but regardless, a vigorous decanting should serve it well in the near- to mid-term. Drink 2023–2027.
