Opaque with a kalamata olive color, this youthful wine smells pleasantly of wild berries and bramble. Alas, the palate is a structural whiplash. As expected from the nose and color, it is warm with alcohol and full-bodied. However, and surprisingly, its prickly tannins are fiercely drying. The medium acidity leans toward tartness and reinforces the moisture-stripping tannins on the gruff finish. The fruit profile is dense and a touch jammy in flavors of blueberries and cola. Drink now–2023.
