This is dark maroon in color with purple reflections. The nose is moderately open and expresses mineral and savory notes rather than fruit. Mulberry dominates the flavors. The palate feels satiny and broad—quite luscious—yet this wine is hardly decadent. A smoky minerality adjoins savory characteristics and the tannins are moderate yet finely dusty. The acidity is entirely in line with the wine’s needs. Best with food and a good possibility for a by-the-glass ion. Drink now through 2016 to enjoy its freshness.
