This Shiraz has an impressively opaque core with a black hole-like appearance. It’s spicy with new oak on the nose and palate, this wine is a showcase for oak that–luckily–the fruit can handle fairly well. Four square, big shouldered and alcoholic, this is not a wine to kick back. Still, the balance is well handled with judicious acidity and structuring tannins. The oak will surely never resolve well, so drink up if you like bold, well-oaked wines, now through 2016, before the fruit steps back too much.
