This wine’s very deep, black core is laced with maroon highlights. Though the color appears youthful, the nose shows some development, with notes of peat and decaying leaves. The aromas are also generously oaky, with vanilla, cinnamon and milk chocolate tones. Flavors of cherry and blueberry pie explode on the palate. The full body is well balanced by medium-plus acidity and lightly dry tannins. Quick to finish, this is a good by-the-glass wine. Drink through 2016.
