This wine’s black core is flushed with dark red. Slightly reticent, its nose carries light tertiary inflections of forest floor and peat. Weighty but structurally focused, the palate shows firm tannins and medium acidity. The fruit flavors are black, very ripe and a touch confected: black currants, blackberry, boysenberry and fresh fig. Dark chocolate and baking-spice flavors surface on the medium finish. Full-bodied with well-integrated, medium-plus alcohol, this wine has enough complexity and concentration to evolve well, now through 2018.
