Near opaque at the core, this wine has a midsized ruby rim. The nose dances between fresh and advancing, and is sappy with attractive potpourri top notes. The flavors are a mesh of mulberries, blueberries and black plums generously sprinkled with cinnamon. The wine’s caressing mouthfeel shows a marked oiliness, but it is properly contained by sculpted tannins and buoyant acidity. This wine has a gracefulness that allows it to drink well alone, yet its heft and savoriness suggest it might show best with richer foods. Drink now through 2019.
