A dark maroon rim highlights this wine’s dense black core. The aromas are brooding, with black currant, blackberry and baked fig that are almost Port-like. There’s also gravel, licorice and tobacco leaf. The full body makes a big impact on the palate with significant weight but with little noticeable glycerol. The medium finish extends nicely with the help of the integrated, vibrant acidity. This cries out for a slab of steak. Drink now through 2018.
