Opaque from the core to the tiny magenta rim, this wine looks like a bruiser. The nose of baked fig and black raisin suggests highly ripe fruit. Other fragrances include baking spice and licorice. The full-bodied palate is firm, with slightly splintery and drying tannins that are lightly reinforced by mouthwatering acidity. The faintest hint of glycerol helps to tame this wine’s brawn. The medium finish suggests this wine has the stuffing to benefit from some time to settle down. Drink now through 2019.
