This pours a lead-black color almost to the rim, with an opaque core. The nose is sweet in oaky tones of cinnamon, toasted raisin bread, maple syrup and black cherry jam. There’s a silky feel to the palate, with rounded tannins and well-integrated, medium-plus acidity. Full bodied yet lively, this wine would likely serve casual restaurants very well. It doesn’t have much complexity given its pop on the nose and very short finish, but most imbibers would be very happy with its clean fruit and generous new oak influences. Enjoy through 2016.
