This wine has quite a presence, with a forbiddingly opaque core and reserved nose. Its subdued loganberry and blueberry aromas are accompanied by fresh-cut firewood and a hint of flint. The full body works to integrate the tugging tannins and bright acidity. The package is balanced, but it is best shown accompanied by hearty food. The lingering finish suggests there’s no urgency to open the bottle, and the layered complexity confirms it will age well drink now–2020.
