Obsidian black at the core, with a dark mulberry rim, this wine’s aromas are deep and brooding. Its top notes consist of cola, licorice and black plum. The palate is generously round and a touch warm. It is also tuggingly tannic and somewhat challengingly dry, cutting the finish off quickly. The acidity is discreet, lurking behind the highly ripe fruit. This is a tough wine, even with a nice chunk of well-marbled meat. Best enjoyed by 2016, before the fresh fruits fade.
