This wine’s dark core is almost mysterious—it’s impenetrably black, with a vibrant magenta rim. Its aromas include licorice, peat and charcoal, while the palate shows an array of jams: boysenberry, mulberry and blueberry. Texturally, there’s a light, palate-coating extract that gives the body voluptuousness and succulence. Balanced by bright acidity and streamlined tannins, it has ample concentration to deliver a moderate finish. The alcohol is a bit warm on the finish, but most consumers won’t notice.
